Robots.txt Audit

Current Status:

  • The file robots.txt is present at the domain root: https://www.frevana.com/robots.txt
  • It currently contains explicit Allow: / lines for multiple user agents (including all, Googlebot, AI bots, etc.).
  • Sitemap is declared at the bottom of the file.

Key Findings:

  • Redundancy: The current robots.txt includes Allow: / instructions for both generic and specific user agents. This is unnecessarily verbose, as the User-agent: * catch-all covers all user agents unless exceptions are listed.
  • Potential Security Exposure: Listing all AI and third-party bots could inadvertently inform scrapers of user agent names and is not required unless you are making exceptions.
  • Sitemap Inclusion: The presence of the Sitemap directive is good for SEO and crawlability.

Example (Current):

User-agent: *
Allow: /
User-agent: AhrefsBot
Allow: /
...
User-agent: Claude-Web
Allow: /
Sitemap: https://www.frevana.com/sitemap.xml

Recommended Improvements:

  • Streamline the file by using a single User-agent: * block with Allow: /.
  • If necessary, add Disallow rules for specific bots or directories you want to protect.
  • Keep the Sitemap directive at the end.

Example starting point:

User-agent: *
Allow: /

# Disallow: /admin/
# Disallow: /login/
# Disallow: /cart/

Sitemap: https://www.frevana.com/sitemap.xml

Best Practice Reminder:
robots.txt must always be hosted at the domain root: https://www.frevana.com/robots.txt.

Sitemap Configuration

Sitemap Check Findings

Remediation Advice (if no sitemap is detected)

  • Action: If the main sitemap were missing or not accessible, create an XML sitemap and ensure it is hosted at the domain root (/sitemap.xml). Reference it in robots.txt using Sitemap: https://www.frevana.com/sitemap.xml.

Best Practice Reminder:
All sitemaps should be linked from https://www.frevana.com/sitemap.xml and must reside at the domain root or be accessible via a root-located index file.

llms.txt Audit

Current Status:

  • llms.txt file was not detected at the domain root.

Recommendation:

Create and host llms.txt at the domain root (https://www.frevana.com/llms.txt). Use the following example as a starting template (customize fields as appropriate):

  • Block sensitive or admin areas if any exist (e.g., /admin/, /login/).
  • Regularly review and update the file as new bots emerge or business rules evolve.

Sitemap

  • Maintain and update sitemaps to reflect changes in site structure.
  • Keep all sitemaps accessible and well-formed at or from the domain root.
  • Continue referencing the main sitemap URL in robots.txt.

llms.txt

  • Publish an llms.txt at the domain root for LLM and generative AI optimization.
  • Ensure it’s updated with accurate, concise descriptions and metadata for your brand.

General Hosting Note

  • Always place robots.txt, llms.txt, and sitemap.xml files at the root of your domain (e.g., https://www.frevana.com/robots.txt).
